The advent of social media has seen transfers seem to take an age to be completed when the reality is that they take just as long as they always did, some more than others though.

Its been little over a week since stories first broke of our interest in Antonio Colak, with claim and counter claim over the last 24 hours about the state of play – Sky Sports claiming that a bid of £1.8million had been accepted only for reports in Greece to deny the claim and for the striker to play the second half of his side’s friendly against Go Ahead Eagles.

Talks are continuing though and it still looks as though it’s a deal that will be made sooner, rather than later given how close the two sides are, Gers correspondent Chris Jack of the Glasgow Times claiming that talks are still ongoing:

“Colak has emerged as a key target for boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst ahead of the new campaign but another day has passed without the move being signed and sealed by all parties in Glasgow and Thessaloniki.

“PAOK initially set a price of £2.5million for Colak and the 28-year-old was a half-time introduction for their friendly fixture with Go Ahead Eagles on Wednesday evening as talks progress over a move.”

After the sale of Cedric Itten and our exposed lack of attacking depth at the end of the season, getting a new striker in was vital and it looks as though Colak is the main man.

Hopefully, it is just the fine print that needs to be ironed out in the contract and that an agreement can be reached, if there’s anything worse than a protracted transfer, it’s a protracted transfer that collapses and you have to start all over again.
