Alfredo Morelos has, seemingly, been hours away from the exit door at Ibrox this season on more than one occasion, with personal terms rumoured to have been agreed according to one previous report, and a record bid “confirmed” in another.

But after playing a key role in Rangers 5-1 win over Motherwell at the weekend the 24-year old Colombian posted on social media that his future could yet be in Glasgow, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

In a post featuring a picture of him and his teammates, he had the following statement underneath:

“I do what you can’t. You do what I can. TOGETHER WE CAN DO GREAT THINGS.”

Although it’s not quite him signing a new contract or confessing his undying love for the club, it at least shows – as has been reflected in his recent performances – that he is fully focused on producing for Steven Gerrard’s side.

With five goals and three assists for Rangers, Morelos is definitely not distracted by the speculation that has surrounded his future this summer and with Kemar Roofe currently on the sidelines, his overall work for the team has been more than just his goal scoring.

Will Morelos still be at Rangers when the window shuts?

He has a renewed maturity and positional sense that has seen him create space and opportunities for others, that we have scored nine goals in the last two games –  and he hasn’t scored any of them –  is a sign of the progress that the forward line has made.

It looked at one point as if there was going to be a sour ending to his Rangers career, but he is clearly loving his football again, and if he is still at the club when the window shuts next week, Gerrard’s chances of writing his name in the history books will be greatly increased.
