Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos have attracted the most transfer attention this summer, however, the sensational start to the season of James Tavernier has reportedly caught the eye of several Premier League teams, according to TEAMtalk.

West Ham United, Burnley and Brighton are all said to be watching the £4.5million rated skipper and will have been impressed with the way that he has led his team to the top of the table and the play-off round of the Europa League.

Against Willem II he scored his 50th goal for the club and now has numbers that most strikers would be jealous of with six goals and four assists in his 11 appearances so far this season, from right-back.

There has been a noticeable change in tactics from Steven Gerrard this season that has seen Borna Barisic and Tavernier spend most of their time in the opposition half with the skipper, seemingly, spending most of it in the box.

For the naysayers that have always doubted his defensive ability, he has been part of a record breaking back four this season and continues to impress on the continent, being asked to put in a shift and contribute at both ends of the park is one of the hardest tasks on the pitch – one that he does with aplomb.

Will Tav be considered a legend if he lifts silverware this season?

Tavernier is, without a doubt, going to be one of those players that, when he does leave, will be a nightmare to replace and will only have his true ability recognised in his absence – Nathan Patterson has some task on his hand to fill in for a man with 52 goals and 78 assists in 254 appearances for the club – but fingers crossed he won’t have to any time soon.
