According to reports in France, Alfredo Morelos may have played his last game for Rangers with the RMC news outlet claiming that he has agreed personal terms with Lille.

The League 1 outfit were rumoured to be preparing a £15million bid for the Colombian international only last week and despite claims from the striker that he is only focussed on playing for Rangers at the moment, their interest appears to be more than a rumour.

Steven Gerrard said after the 2-0 friendly victory over Coventry City on Saturday that he had informed the board of what was needed and – with him already wanting further additions to his forward line – to lose Morelos would leave a huge hole in his goals scored column.

In what season did Steven Gerrard make his Liverpool debut?

Jermain Defoe isn’t expected to be out injured for long, however, the first domestic fixture, away to Aberdeen. is next weekend just six days away, and if the Gers sell their best player without having secured replacements serious questions would have to be asked of the Ibrox hierarchy and the recruitment team, reported interest in Kemar Roofe and Ivan Toney may now be stepped up.

Rangers have previously valued Morelos at £20m and would hope to secure around this figure and if one thing, Ross Wilson’s negotiating skills so far have proven that he is capable of getting the best deal for the club – expect a sell on clause on top of a decent fee given the French club’s recent transfer activity.

Losing Morelos, regardless of individual opinion, would be a huge blow to Gerrard’s plans, replacing a player who has 80 goals and assists over the last two seasons would be a seismic task and fans of the Light Blues will hope that they have transfer irons in the fire to keep Rangers hopes of a first major domestic title since 2011 alive.
