Time for McCoist and Co to show true colours rather than taking aim at Morelos

Alfredo Morelos is far from perfect, we all know this and we love him in spite of his flaws, if only others of a Light Blue persuasion in more prominent positions would do the same.

If it isn’t bad enough listening to Andy Walker, John Hartson or Chris Sutton continuously criticising him, when Ally McCoist or Kris Boyd have a go, it cuts that little bit deeper.

Former Gers gaffer McCoist was on co-commentary for the duty and, to be honest, his constant hyper critical analysis of Morelos is getting a little tiresome, he’s not Ronaldo, or Robert Lewandowski or Harry Kane, so please stop holding him to the same standards.

During the game the Sky Sports pundit was scathing of the Colombian international’s behaviour, as reported by The Daily Record:

“Oh, dear me. There’s no words to describe that, it’s just foolish.

“We’ve gone 12 minutes and he’s got another 78 to go and he’s on a yellow card.

“I don’t know if you know, he has got previous. You might not be aware of that.

“It’s crazy, it’s absolutely crazy. It could’ve been a red, it could’ve been.

“What it’s also done is give Steven Gerrard a problem. Can he trust him for the remaining 78 minutes?

“It gives Steven Gerrard a problem he doesn’t need.”

Incidentally, there was no praise for the maturity that Morelos displayed for the rest of the match – despite being bang out of form – not getting involved in incidents despite being pushed/barged off the ball on more than one occasion or being caught late by defenders, repaying the faith in him shown by his manager.

Should Morelos have seen red?

Yes

No

No

We, as Rangers fans, don’t ask for Morelos to be treated differently, just for him to be treated the same as the likes of Scott Brown, and not have every incident blown out of proportion and turned into an international war crime.
