The announcement that John Lundstram had signed for Rangers this week was warmly appreciated by Gers fans, however, I’m not sure if a couple of Sheffield United’s well known bluenoses will be too popular when fans return to grounds south of the border.

Lundstram has already revealed John Fleck’s role in his move and now, through an excellent interview with the Four Lads Had a Dream blog, Scotland international Oli McBurnie also admitted that he had a part to play in the 27-year old deciding to snub a contract extension to head north.

McBurnie  – a £20million signing for the Blades – explained exactly what we can expect when the powerful midfielder first dons the famous Light Blue shirt and it’s safe to say that he could become a fans favourite pretty quickly if he lives up to expectations:

“A top player. John can play anywhere in midfield. He’s a midfield engine, excellent with both feet and has a great range of passing with an eye for a goal as well.

“A natural born winner.

“As a lad from Liverpool, I think we all know what they are like (passion wise). Demanding of his teammates both in training and in games, but one of the best blokes you will meet.

“He will be a big miss in the Sheffield United dressing room.”

We’ve been chasing Lundstram for a while so to fend of Premier League competition is a real coup, not only that but he will instantly be an upgrade in our starting XI and provide further flexibility for Steven Gerrard.
