One of the issues Rangers face this summer is either having to sell a host of key players or persuade them to sign new deals so that they don’t leave for nothing next year.

Close to the top of a very congested list is Ryan Kent, the 25-year old winger who has been a driving force behind our run to the Europa League final.

His goal return could be better – he would be the first to admit that – but with nearly 20 assists to his name, there can be absolutely no complaints about just how important he is to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

There have been reports at the weekend though that suggest Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are aware of his contract situation and are considering making a move with journalist Dean Jones going as far as to tell GiveMeSport that Kent is looking for a new challenge:

ā€œIā€™m told Ryan Kent will still look to leave this summer as he wants to play in the Premier League. Rangers are ready to make him a new contract offer, but it sounds like he fancies a move, and he knows clubs like Leeds and Everton are keen.ā€

Every player has their price and we aren’t stupid enough to not realise that a player of his ability won’t have teams watching him or that he could easily double his wage by moving on.

What it comes down to though is what his motivation is, his girlfriend is from Glasgow, he is clearly settled and knows that the fans adore him and accept him for what he is rather than criticise him for what he doesn’t do.

Then there is the small matter of the potential chance to play Champions League football next season which, if we secure by winning the Europa League, would see Kent become immortal, surely that sounds better than a relegation battle or fight to get out of the Championship?
