Ryan Kent got the weekend off against Dundee United, a well earned break for his display against RB Leipzig and you may have missed it given all the understandable excitement of the last few days but, when he has been playing, his performances have been catching the eye.

The 25-year old has never been short of admirers but it looks as though we will face a battle to keep a hold of the winger in the summer, given the interest that has been reported by 90min.com:

“Rangers do not want to sell Kent but they are also concerned about losing him for free in 2023, and sources have confirmed to 90min that the uncertainty has attracted interest from a number of teams across the continent.

“Long-term suitors Leeds United remain keen on Kent, while there has also been interest from Everton, Wolves and newly promoted Fulham.
Across Europe, Kent’s performances in Rangers’ run to the Europa League final have caught the eye, with various clubs from the Bundesliga understood to have expressed an interest in the former Liverpool youngster.”

One of the Bundesliga clubs said to be keeping tabs, ironically, is Leipzig but when you watch Kent after our Europa League semi-final win he looks like a man who is very happy where he is, has a manager who trusts him and a fan base that adores him.

With just a year left on his contract, one of the priorities must be getting it extended, if anything, just to protect his value but, more importantly, because he would be a nightmare to replace, he is so much more than his 77 goal contributions in his 171 appearances.

Some might hold the number of goals he has scored this season against him but anyone who has watched him play knows that he is one of the first names on the team sheet for a reason, his transfer fee may have raised more than a few eyebrows, even being branded a “panic buy“, but it’s safe to say that he has repaid his £7.5million fee and made us a few pounds in the process – hopefully, he’ll be around to provide more moments like he did last week, after all, he could yet be starring in the Champions League next season.
