Gers must eye pre-contract for Dutch youth cap

|

The transfer window has now shut and there is good new for Rangers fans on more than one front.

Not only have we kept our key players but, players we have been linked with have also stayed put, meaning that when the next window opens, they will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements.

The biggest one is Danilho Doekhi, the Vitesse Arnhem centre-half, who, at 22-years old has been appointed captain of the Eredivisie side, if Ross Wilson is looking for players with character, it isn’t a bad place to start.

Doekhi, as Vital Rangers has already covered, would be a perfect fit for our system, a central defender who is comfortable in possession and loves pinging long balls behind opposition defences.

He is also an absolute unit, Strong in the air and one v one defensively, it beggars belief why our city rivals, who are desperately sort at the back, didn’t make an attempt to sign him.

Connor Goldson is expected to sign a new contract, however, until he puts pen to paper we should be planning for life without him plus, if we can get a player of Danilho’s ability on a free transfer, we should jump at the chance and cash in on Jack Simpson and/or Niko Katic.

Our transfer model doesn’t always have to be about selling for big bucks, just about selling for more than we paid, if you do this often enough over a period of time, it soon adds up, especially if you are making the group stages of European competition.

The Dutch Under-21 cap is one to keep an eye on and he is very much a textbook Rangers signing, how many days until the next window opens again?
