Itten worth every penny despite loan exit

When Rangers made the double signing of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, many felt it was the end of Alfredo Morelos in a Rangers shirt.

When Lille never followed up their rejected £16.25million offer – mainly due to falling foul of financial fair play regulations – it left us with four front line strikers including Jermain Defoe, a problem that Steven Gerrard probably didn’t think he would have, but one that played a major role in securing the Scottish Premiership title.

It also saw Itten sitting lower on the pecking order than he would have anticipated.

This didn’t stop him from scoring a couple of important goals against Motherwell though, one at Ibrox to seal all three points and all but confirming Rangers as champions.

It also hasn’t stopped him from getting  a move to the Bundesliga and for all that he won’t be playing for Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund, he will, at least, be getting regular game time.

Despite some fans claiming him to be a waste of money, he is still a Rangers player who can be recalled in the next transfer window, Greuther Furth claim that they have an option to buy the 24-year old but nothing official has been revealed by his parent club.

Who scored the winner in Sunday's first Old Firm of 2021/22?

We can trust that Ross Wilson will make sure that we get our money back if not make a profit, after all if Celtic can get £3.5million for Patryk Klimala, I’m pretty confident that we can get more for someone who has played international football and scored in the Europa League.

Even if he does leave, and I’m not entirely sure that his time is up just yet, if he does though, there will always be that time he scored against Motherwell, Motherwell and, of course, Motherwell.
