If you were looking for something to brighten up your Monday, how about this? Alfredo Morelos is back on the Ibrox pitch with a ball at his feet.

The Rangers first team squad have been taking part in an open training day at Ibrox, with the session open to those in the MyGers club membership scheme. Fans and media are present with various updates coming from the stadium.

As well as getting a close-up look, the sight of Morelos kicking a ball and taking part in training with his teammates will be welcomed and enjoyed by all of those present, as well as every Rangers supporter and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who has been without the services of the front man for too long now.

Whilst the Colombian international is still some weeks away from first team contention, this is undoubtedly a massive step in the right direction. Rangers are a stronger, more formidable force with Morelos leading the line but until his return, the onus falls to Antonio Colak to produce the goods as well as carrying the responsibility up front.

His first goal in Rangers colours at the weekend against Tottenham was another positive, given that he will continue in place over the start to the competitive season. Moving forward, hopefully the Croatian and Morelos can push each other on – the more goals, the better.

For now, it is all about progress as there is likely to be no mention of a return to action for Alfredo Morelos. Some previous reports had suggested an absence until September but his reintroduction to training today should see an earlier outcome.

Within the next week, Rangers will commence the new season on the domestic and European fronts so there is plenty for the The Buffalo to aim for in the near future.
