As is their custom, Ajax fans turned up to Ibrox to see their team train on Monday evening ahead of Matchday Six and the final Champions League Group A encounter on Tuesday.

The Netherlands boasts a strong and vibrant fan culture from the top clubs such as PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord, right down to the lesser Eredivisie sides such as Utrecht, Groningen and more. The same applies to the lower leagues across the Dutch nation.

Whilst the game at Ibrox may lose a bit of intensity due to the situation on the pitch – Rangers need to win by five goals to be able to take over Ajax in third place – it should still be a lively European night with a strong contingent from Amsterdam set to make themselves seen and heard in the away section.

They will build up their preparations for the game with a planned ‘corteo’ (fan march) from George Square in Glasgow city centre through to Ibrox Stadium.

An early lead for Rangers would make things a wee bit interesting in what will be a hard-fought game. In the previous two home games, Gio van Bronckhorst’s team competed well for near enough an hour before combusting. Despite many players missing tonight, the team have to go for it and make the most of the occasion.

The performance of the team is the most important aspect of this game, as much as a win is craved by all. It all makes for a very intriguing night under the lights at Ibrox for the last European game of 2022 and almost certainly for the season.
