Gregg Wylde’s career on the pitch didn’t hit the heights after he left Rangers in the summer of 2012.

In that tumultuous period, post-administration with the club in freefall, it was said that Wylde left the club but did not collect a redundancy payment in the hope it could help save jobs elsewhere for regular staff at Ibrox.

His next move was to Bolton but several moves and clubs later, it became more clear that the high water mark of his playing career had already been reached.

That was as part of Walter Smith’s Rangers squad who won a Scottish Premier League and League Cup double, in the legendary gaffer’s last season, with the now 30-year old enjoying a prominent role, alongside the likes of Steven Davis, Allan McGregor, Davie Weir, Madjid Bougherra and Nikica Jelavic.

Wylde was a regular in Walter Smith’s preferred 4-4-2, including on that very famous last day of the season at Kilmarnock when title 54 was secured.

He also played the full game of the March cup success over Old Firm rivals Celtic at Hampden, at the Gers were victorious in extra-time (2-1), thanks to a Jelavic strike.

Now Wylde’s has immortalised those memories on his body, with stunning calf tattoos to be precise.

Now plying his trade on a part-time basis with East Kilbride FC in the Scottish Lowland league, he is showing that a love and fondness for the game can continue despite a drop down the tiers.

He will come up against Rangers B team this season and hopefully the sight of his tattoos, can inspire the Auchenhowie youngsters to make a legacy of their own in royal blue.
