Rangers fans should support England to Euro glory

|

Bear with me on this one, if you pardon the pun.

For many Rangers fans the idea of supporting England in a major tournament is enough to make them choke on their dinner, however, for some, after the events of 2012 and the more recent behaviour of some Scotland fans towards both players and fans of a Light Blue persuasion, it is easy to understand why they might change their allegiances.

The thing is, there is a reason why all Rangers fans should consider supporting England in the European Championships final tonight against Italy.

Put it simply, there is a large percentage of the backroom and playing staff that are from England, nothing more complicated than that, and a happy work force is a productive work force.

Our manager is an icon of his country, our captain, vice-captain plus key players like Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Jermain Defoe and Joe Aribo were all born in England and that’s not all of them.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

For all that we might not want to hear it or see them lifting the trophy, it is something that could have a positive effect on our early season preparations, they will already be in good spirits from last season and momentum and team spirit can be a hugely influential factor in sporting performance.

I won’t lose any sleep if they don’t win but if Steven Gerrard is happy, I’m happy and if James Tavernier is happy, I’m happy, if your leaders are in a good place it can only have a positive effect on the team going into one of the most important run of fixtures for a decade, every little helps and all that.
