A report in Football Insider has claimed that Rangers are in the process of negotiating a financial package for Jack Wilshere after his £100,000 per week West Ham deal was torn up.

Since his release from the Premier League side was announced speculation has continued to mount about the possibility of the former Arsenal star heading north to play for his old international teammate.

Football Insider reveals that the 28-year old is “attracted” to a move to Rangers and is unlikely to be motivated by money with the Hammers said to have paid off up to 85% of the last year of his contract – an approximate £3m.

Would Rangers be a good move for Wilshere?

The Ibrox side are leading the way with the bookmakers in the race to sign the one-time wonderkid according to The Sun and are now odds-on to add him to their squad, a representative of Oddschecker spoke about the popularity of Wilshere’s future in the betting market:

“Poor old Jack Wilshere has seen his career stall, so a move North of the border might be the perfect way to reignite himself.

“Punters are certainly backing it to happen, with Wilshire’s transfer market the most popular transfer page on oddschecker this morning.”

We have been here before with the bookies though with Robin van Persie also odds-on to join Rangers at one point in his career, even though the transfer window is shut, there is nothing better than an exciting rumour, even if the chances of it coming off are slim – it doesn’t stop us from dreaming though.
