Reports have emerged in the Scottish media that Rangers might not yet be finished in the transfer market after it was revealed that a move for Jack Wilshere was possibly on the cards.

Rangers News covered a post by a reputable West Ham United insider that claims Steven Gerrard has enquired about the England midfielder’s situation after he was released by the Premier League side.

There has never been any doubt about the former Arsenal man’s ability but he is well known for having no luck with injuries and has had a series of leg breaks and ankle issues that have restricted his playing time in recent years, however, the 28-year old revealed on his own social media that he is fit and raring to go:

“I have been fully fit for a large period at the club, including over the course of the last eight months – training hard everyday – but unfortunately have not been given the opportunity to play.

“Although I am of course frustrated that I was not about to fully showcase what I am capable of at West Ham I remain convinced that I can still contribute at the very top of the game.”

Wilshere’s statement reads as if he has been available for selection for some time but hasn’t been selected by David Moyes, also saying that he is “fit, strong and ready to play”.

With Rangers signing Bongani Zungu, the chances of Wilshere being offered terms would appear to be slim, but stranger things have happened and with the gaffer knowing the player from England duty, it wouldn’t do any harm to offer him training facilities to have a closer look at him, however, with just one injury free season since 2011/12, he has almost missed as many games as he has played.
