Rangers move for Morgan Whittaker is one that came out of nowhere and appears to be accelerating quickly.

The Swansea City winger has spent the first half of the season on loan at Plymouth Argyle scoring nine goals and creating seven assists, form that will have alerted Rangers to his ability.

The 22-year old is predominantly left footed but operates off the right-hand side of the attack, exactly the position we have been trying to fix since Steven Gerrard arrived in 2018 and writing on their Patreon site, The 4th Official said of the move:

“Finally, let’s get to the exciting news of Morgan Whittaker wanting to join Rangers.

“According to Fabrizio Romano, the club have submitted a bid and negotiations are underway.

“I also talked with a very good source of mine and he’s confident that Whittaker wants to push through this move and he wants this done at the earliest.

“Obviously, Swansea City have their own valuation but the player wants this done, and usually that is the biggest driving factor in a transfer.”

It’s always easier to get a deal done if the player is keen to make it happen but, like Todd Cantwell, we will need to pay what the selling club wants.

Fashion Sakala has found some decent form but question marks remain over Rabbi Matondo, who has struggled to keep fit, and Scott Wright in terms of consistency. They have all shown fleeting moments of what they are capable of but we need to see it more often.

For those that might not be sure about recruiting a player who isn’t fancied by Swansea City, it would have been easy to say the same about Calvin Bassey, some did, and look how he turned out.
