Calvin Bassey is the textbook example of a fully functioning player trading model, acquire a player with a few outstanding qualities and smooth out the rough edges, get a couple of years out of them in the first-team before selling at a massive profit.

Good, promising young players will no longer stay at Rangers for the whole of their careers, whether we like it or not, if we are to compete, we need to accept that we are a selling club now.

Ridvan Yilmaz might be the next big sale if he kicks on from his imprsesive cameos when he returns, or Ianis Hagi if he rediscovers his form in the coming weeks and months but it is clear that in this transfer window, that we are looking for players who can improve us now and who could also make us a few pounds in the future too.

One of those is Noah Sadiki, a Belgium Under-21 international currently playing for Anderlecht and, at 18-years old, is showing the sort of promise that could see him move to a top-five league at some point in his career. That his contract is expiring at the end of this season means that he is already being tipped for a move to Ligue 1 and the Eredivisie with French media outlet Jeunes Footeux also claiming that we are interested:

“According to our information, Lille OSC is indeed interested in Noah Sadiki.

“At the end of his contract next June in Anderlecht, this young 18-year-old Belgian international U20 right-back has so far played 16 games this season with the Mauves first team, for 5 starts.

“owever, LOSC is not alone on this issue, since PSV and Glasgow Rangers are also very interested in young Noah Sadiki.”

Adam Devine has emerged as James Tavernier’s – and Borna Barisic’s – backup this season and has looked increasingly confident in the role, however, it would be negligent of the recruitment team if the opportunity to sign such a prospect was ignored.

Sadiki is a similar age to Devine and there is no reason why they couldn’t both get minutes, after all, like Bassey, if the Belgian fulfils his potential, he might not be in Glasgow for long, if he signs that is.
