After Celtic’s impotent 0-0 draw at Tannadice which confirmed Rangers as champions, Celtic captain Scott Brown was nowhere to be seen.

No showboating with sunglasses on, no snarling in the face of lower league opponents, no lording it over rival players. nothing.

Most damning for the supposed leader of the Celtic dressing room is that he did not front up to the Sky Sports cameras post match yesterday and instead it was Callum McGregor who turned up for media duties, as well as interim manager John Kennedy.

When Celtic fans will be hurting and wanting a reaction from their players, they didn’t get a response from their captain.

Scotland international McGregor told Sky Sports:

“Everyone’s hurting. The fans will be hurting as well. It’s the end of that nine in a row, but we have to come again.”

“The reason we’ve been so good is when we faced setbacks we’ve come back even stronger, so where we are at the moment, we have to look at ourselves, get better in training, and come again next season.”

“That’s what champions do.”

Except you’re not champions any more Callum.

On the day they did everything but score going forward with 27 attempts at Dundee United keeper Ben Siegrist, who just could not be beaten.

Celtic’s loss was Rangers gain to confirm the inevitible and with the final whistle at Dundee, the party was started all across Glasgow, Scotland, the UK and beyond.

The scenes from Rangers Auchenhowie training base were very pleasing as Steven Gerrard’s players and staff revelled in the moment.
