Managing director, Stewart Robertson revealed at Rangers AGM that the club had issued a feasibility study into expanding Ibrox as part of it’s ongoing development, further details have since been reported in The Evening Times that look at how the ground could be expanded to fit demand.
Moving the corner screens, lowering the pitch and extending the Govan Stand are all being investigated with results expected in “the next couple of months”. Given that Rangers season ticket waiting list currently sits at around 14,000, expansion is verging on a necessity.
Outgoing chairman, Dave King, spoke about the state of Ibrox when he first instigated and feared that it could have been shut down but for his intervention, he also talked of the maintenance required to bring the stadium up to scratch but now is the time to improve and modernise the iconic ground.
What do you think Rangers should do to expand Ibrox?
Remove TV screens and fill in corners.
Lower the pitch.
Extend the Govan Stand?
As well as sensible discussion on where fans would like to see Ibrox developed, they couldn’t help but have a dig at their rivals from across the city, any mention of Rangers and money sees fans of the Parkhead side reaching for their laptops and logging onto social media, here the Light Blues fans get there first with just the slightest hint of sarcasm.
This is all lies. We can’t expand or improve ibrox. WERE SKINT. #ADMIN2 #everysillickfanknowstherangersbooks#bigjockknew

But Big Phil said the only redevelopment of Ibrox will be the new Asda in its place 🤷♂️

Rangers fans are now used to every post about money from the club being filled with comments from their biggest rival’s fan base, at least it shows they care.
