Manager Mark Warburton has given a brief injury update this November international break and featured both Jordan Rossiter and Nico Kranjcar.

With former Liverpool youngster Rossiter being out of action and last playing in the draw with Kilmarnock back in August, he does only have six appearances to his name so far this season, and in an interview with the EveningTimes Warburton confirmed that the player had suffered another set back, but he was once again building himself back to 100% and fitness.

‘Jordan is getting there, he had a small set back and there is a lot of work being done with him. Jordan is a boy who just wants to play football; his ability is more than evident to anyone who has seen him play this season.’

Warburton did admit however it was frustrating for him, and for Rossiter himself.

‘The frustration is obvious but he’s working hard and these things happen, these frustrations come with the game. Jordan is very frustrated at the moment but there is no doubt his quality is there and we’ll see it sooner rather than later I’m sure.’

With Rangers being slight light in midfield with Matt Crooks restricted to two substitute appearances so far following his arrival from Accrington Stanley, and Joey Barton not being an option for a while prior to his departure this week, Kranjcar is also out for the remainder of the campaign following the knee injury he suffered in training.

On the subject of Nico, Warburton went on to add about the players’ surgery.

‘Niko’s operation went well, the stitches came out on Monday, which he is pleased about and the inflammation is down. He is going through the normal four weeks and then after four weeks he will revisit the surgeon and hopefully get the greenlight to push on from there.’

Whilst obviously a blow, Warburton did say the recovery programme is very structured for this injury and there is no chance of cutting corners, but in the modern day game it’s also a ‘very common’ injury that players have, so everybody knows his path to recovery.
