Waghorn Edging Towards Rangers Exit?

I’m not as convinced Martyn Waghorn’s Rangers career has ‘nosedived’ quite as much as the Bristol Post tends to think it has but he’s certainly (which hasn’t been helped by injury) not finding the regular football under Mark Warburton this season as he was (along with the goals) last term in the Championship.

Waghorn did play for the development team this week but the striker, linked with Bristol City in the summer and most recently Fulham too, wasn’t the only first-team player to face Ross County. Danny Wilson, Barrie McKay, Philippe Senderos and Matt Crooks all started the three-two win at the Global Energy Stadium as well.

This same report referred to recent talk of the 26-year-old being ‘ready to quit’ Rangers after losing his first-team place to Joe Garner following his arrival from Preston with it also said he was unhappy at not having a new contract offered to him following his 28-goals last season whereas the likes Rob Kiernan, Wes Foderingham and James Tavernier, with all arriving around the same time as Waghorn, did and that may have seen a falling out with Warburton.

I think the coming weeks will determine once and for all if Waghorn does indeed have a future at Rangers. Nothing came of the links to Bristol City in the summer so we’ll see if the former Sunderland and Wigan striker does complete a return to England with the Robins or Fulham when the transfer window opens in January.

However, the talk of Rangers only looking for a fee of £400,000 for Waghorn doesn’t seem a lot does it?
