Ryan Kent, after in interest from Leeds United, professed his love for Rangers recently, however, his form this season means that Steven Gerrard should be prepared to have to fight to hold onto one of his most valuable assets.

Despite not being on the SFWA Player of the Year shortlist, the 24-year old has been outstanding, particularly in key Old Firm fixtures where he has terrorised their defence – Scott Brown in particular.

The initial £7.5million investment seemed like a lot of money at the time, however, he could be worth as much as four times that now according to Gers legend Ally McCoist, as reported by The Scotsman:

“It might happen if they get an unbelievable offer. That is the economics of football, we understand that totally.

“What’s he worth? £25-30 million right now. £25-30 million for Ryan Kent.

“You need Ryan Kent. These are the players you need to unlock defences, to get the ball, have the stepover: over left he’s away right and vice-versa.

“He goes and commits somebody, he gets by somebody and someone has to come to him so the defence opens up.

“He is absolutely vital to Rangers.”

Kent has added the numbers to his game this season that Gerrard knew was all he needed to take his football to the next level, 12 goals and 14 assists in all competition but this doesn’t paint the full picture.

His performance against Celtic in the most recent derby is the norm nowadays which makes him one of the hardest players in the squad to replace, should he depart for pastures new.

Thankfully, he has no plans to leave and a crack at the Champions League will only add to Super Ally’s valuation, Kent has proven in Europe and Old Firms that he is a man for the big occasion and destined for “bigger” things – not yet though, not yet.
