Remember the days when Chris Sutton would write a weekly column about how bad Rangers were under Pedro Caixinha or how many millions it would take to close the gap?

The snidey digs on social media or when he was on BT Sport as a pundit, him and his pal “Lenny” laughing it up.

I almost feel sorry for him, his club are in that much of a shambles that, in his Daily Record column, he is backing Olivier Ntcham to be their saviour next season:

“Anyone could see his mind was in other countries for the two years before he was eventually punted out on loan. But the guy is 25. He’s at a perfect stage of his career to be a real force.

“Ntcham has dominated games against Rangers and has shown he can be top class when his mind is on the job. That was the problem half the time.

“But if you have Callum McGregor, Ismaila Soro, David Turnbull, Ryan Christie and Ntcham as well as James Forrest out wide, that at least gives hope the midfield is decent enough to get started.”

Oh dear. Someone send help. When was the last time Ntcham played against Rangers never mind dominated a game against us? In 2018 when he was up against a two man midfield of Andy Halliday and Greg Docherty he looked a world beater, but that was three years ago, those days are long gone Chris, Celtic haven’t “dominated” a game since those days let alone had one player cause carnage on his own.

As for the group of players that he thinks “gives hope”, Christie will be gone in the summer, Soro has been dropped for the hapless Scott Brown in recent weeks, Turnbull offers nothing other than a decent corner for the 60 minutes or so he is able to stay on the park for and Kemar Roofe has scored the same number of goals against Celtic in one season than Forest has against us in 10.
