This season we’ve seen Leon King establish himself as a first-team player, Adam Devine too. We all know what Alex Lowry is capable of but his appearances haven’t, as yet, matched his ability and if he can develop the commitment and work rate of his former B team colleagues he would, arguably, already be a more regular starter.
The B team has a genuine chance to win the Lowland League this season, but for a bizarre mid-season dip they would be clear at the top, and leading the way has been Robbie Ure. Another two goals against Gretna 2008 adding to his already impressive balance.
11′ An ideal start in Dumbarton.

Ure played for the B team last season as a 17-year old and scored eight goals, this season, despite his inexperience, he has taken his game on a level and is almost hitting a goal or assist every game in 24 appearances. The Lowland League might not be the highest standard but this has to be weighed up with how young Ure still is.
A goalscoring debut at senior level earlier in the season points towards bigger things to come but how his future is planned out is going to be key to him fulfilling his potential and continuing to progress.
Josh McPake, Kai Kennedy and more recently, Tony Weston, have all shone at youth and academy level but struggled to make the step up to senior football, there is still time for the latter, but it isn’t an easy transition for forwards. There is a reason that Robert Fleck was the last truly successful striker to come through the youth ranks and Ross McCormack the only other really notable name to deserve a mention.

Ure has all the attributes, getting the right club for a loan move is essential, if that is the decision taken, however, he will at least – at 6ft 3inches tall – be able to adapt easier to the lower leagues’ more direct style of football. If he continues his current form though, he might not be going anywhere.
