Rangers confirmed on Monday afternoon that defender Fabio Cardoso had left the club after his contract was mutually terminated, just 12 months after arriving on a three-year deal.

Heralded as one of Pedro Caixinha’s big signings last summer, he went to make just 18 appearances for the Gers, failing to live up to the standards that supporters expected of him.

He simply wasn’t good enough.

Still, letting him leave for nothing has irked many supporters who feel the club could have have gotten better value out of his exit, especially considering he found a new club less than 24 hours later, joining Portuguese top-flight side Santa Clara.

It’s a disappointing outcome, especially after Bruno Alves also left the club on a free transfer earlier this summer.

The revolving door at Ibrox has seen too many players leave for free, or even with a pay off.

Fans have taken to Twitter over the last couple of days to share their thoughts on it all…

What do you make of the Fabio Cardoso situation? Let us know in the comments…

  • STEWART ROBERTSON!! That is who to blame ,the man who proclaimed that Pedro was the OUTSTANDING candidate for the job ( I would still like to know who the other candidates were) he should have been sacked along with Pedro!!!!
