David Templeton has said he hopes he can continue to play through the middle after grabbing a brace against Queen’s Park.

The former winger took his tally for the season to 15 goals after helping us to a 4-1 victory, and he thinks he teamed up well playing in the hole behind Lee McCulloch.

Speaking to the Official Site the 24 year old said.

‘I feel that’s my best position. It’s hard to pick someone up in there and a lot of teams don’t play with a sitting midfielder. If I can get in there and get in between the opposition’s defence and midfield, I’ve got time to pick the ball up and try to play in the strikers. Being in that role is definitely something I enjoy and want to do more of.’

Templeton admits that whilst his first strike of the day looked more spectacular, he has to admit he mishit it which was probably fortuitous as if he’d struck it cleanly, he thinks the keeper may have got to it.

As Ally McCoist said following the game, the players were much more back to their best on the day with the title no longer figuring in our minds having already been won, and Templeton also agrees that it took the pressure off the players and allowed them to play their more natural game and go out and enjoy it having already been crowned champions.
