An expected busy end to the transfer window is now underway for Swansea City with the update that they have accepted an offer from Burnley for Michael Obafemi.

The striker will head to Lancashire on an initial loan deal to be converted to a permanent switch in the Summer, meaning the Swans could be about to bring in two new attackers with the ongoing saga involving Morgan Whittaker’s links to Ibrox.

It is understood that Rangers still need to go a bit further to meet the Welsh club’s valuation of the 22-year old.

Some reports have claimed that two bids from the Gers have been rebuffed by Swansea with an expectation that further dialogue will happen. It is ok to pursue this approach but the prospect of another club muscling in on the prospective move cannot be ruled out. With just over five days remaining in the current transfer window, we shouldn’t have long to wait on the outcome.

As well as activity surrounding Obafemi and Whittaker, there could also be a departure for Jamie Paterson with any new arrivals for boss Russell Martin said to be preceded by the status of the above trio, as reported by Wales Online:

“Martin has regularly stated Swansea did not need to sell players to be able to recruit new ones this month, however, as the window has progressed, it appears as though some do need to leave for any signings to be made given that the squad balance could be massively impacted.”

From a Rangers perspective, Morgan Whittaker is an interesting one. He appears to be an ‘inside-forward’ type, playing off the right wing driving onto his left foot. Like Todd Cantwell, he would appear to be a key fit for Michael Beale’s template in terms of fluidity in attack.

The manager was vocal on his desire and urge to get his two to three new faces in the door ahead of the end of the month. Further moves (beyond Whittaker and Raskin) including a possible Ibrox departure cannot be ruled out in these final few days with plenty of activity expected at Ibrox and Auchenhowie before the close of the transfer window on Tuesday.

Rangers are acting small time in the transfer market by trying to squeeze clubs for every penny. PAY THE PRICE and get the much needed new blood in the door or settle for the runners up spot every year.
