Steven Gerrard has delivered some very exciting youth player news for Rangers fans

|

There aren’t many things more exciting for a football fan than to see a young player from their team make it at their boyhood club, and that’s certainly true of Rangers supporters.

We love it when one of our own is given a chance in the first team, and if a recent comment from Steven Gerrard is anything to go by, we may get to see exactly that over the coming weeks.

Steven Gerrard, via the official Rangers Twitter, has confirmed that young forward Dapo Mebude is ready for a Rangers cameo – and that he’s working hard to make it as a first team player at the club. See the full quote below:

Of course, Mebude is only 17-years-old, and so it’s rare that a player of his age gets even close to the first team of a major side. So, it’s important for us to curtail our expectations somewhat, but this comment from Gerrard is still exciting.

Clearly, the forward is in his thoughts, and given our current issues going forward, he could really be an option for us over the coming weeks and months.

Any minutes on the field could be a huge help for him in his development, and so maybe we’ll see a bit of him sooner, rather than later.

Thoughts?
