There has been plenty of online chatter this afternoon that Brighton will heading to Ibrox to play a pre-season game on Saturday 24th July.
Excitement and glee has been spreading amongst Rangers fans that they could possibly get to ‘welcome’ Shane Duffy back to Ibrox, following his impact on Celtic’s implosion this season.
On the FollowFollow messageboard, the online Rangers fanzine, word broke earlier today about the game, with a 5.30pm kick-off against Graham Potter’s side, mooted.
It would mean back to back Premier League opposition at Ibrox this Summer with Arsenal set to visit on 17th July.
Calamity
As for Duffy, well it’s just part of football isn’t it.
The Republic of Ireland international from Londonderry, Northern Ireland was overjoyed to have secured a move to his boyhood heroes – the club he has long supported.
Unfortunately for him and to the joy of the Rangers fanbase, the move and his form were both an unmitigated disaster – a series of incidents and bad mistakes on the pitch making up a calamity collection.
Duffy didn’t feature much toward the end of the season and has now returned to his parent club Brighton, following the reported £2 million loan deal.
Things that make Shane Duffy sitting in the pub singing about 10 in a row at the other end of the season look a bit silly, part 55… https://t.co/6mbaRJWvzi

Yes, it is possible that Duffy won’t ever live down that pub session singing about his dream move and the fabled ten.
Before the new season, he might just have to relieve some ghosts of the recent past with a return to Ibrox – the Rangers supporters will look forward to that one, if the game is confirmed.
