It has been revealed this afternoon that Steven Gerrard has been issued with a notice of complaint following the Livingston game incident with a one game ban offered.

With the fixed one game suspension, Rangers have the option to accept and have it served immediately v St Mirren tomorrow.

Otherwise the hearing date has been scheduled for the 25th of March – the Ibrox club have until the 10th, to respond.

Crucially, this means that Gerrard will not miss the potential title clincher on Sunday 21st March whatever happens.

The full notice of complaint can be viewed here on the Scottish FA website.

Following the game on Wednesday night when the Rangers boss received two yellow cards from referee John Beaton in the aftermath of the incorrect decision not to award Alfredo Morelos a penalty and to book the player for simulation, Gerrard stated that he would ‘take his medicine’ whatever the outcome, as he revealed his frustrations:

“It’s a blatant penalty, it’s a stonewaller. I’m someone who wants to support officials because we are all human and we will make a mistake.”

“But what I can’t stand for at this level is three people making the same mistake. They all had clear views of it. I could see it and I’m the furthest away.”

“There are three officials at this level who all got it wrong together – I can’t have that. I asked for an explanation and he refused to speak to me.”
