Today on social media, some reports of bus and bar cancellations in Seville on the day of the Europa League Final has caused understandable panic.

Without the full information for fan arrangements being in the public domain, rumours and claims will be rife, as much as they are unhelpful.

At this stage with just over a week to go until the big game, tens of thousands of travelling supporters need to know what is happening and it is on the way. At present, arrangements and negotiations are taking place between the relevant stakeholders and authorities over how the city of Seville will operate on matchday.

It is imperative that the appropriate provisions and facilities are made available especially for those who aren’t going to the game and as well as from a Rangers perspective, the same applies to Eintracht Frankfurt who will be taking big numbers to Spain as well.

Rangers will use the Manchester 2008 situation to push for as much space as possible, with Seville’s other two large football stadiums providing a viable option to screen the game, it would appear.

In the past, Rangers supporters have been treated very poorly by Spanish police as well as other European clubs, not just the British.

There is less of a tolerance in Spain for fans rowdy behaviour and indulgence in a pint or two compared to that common culture with the Germans when it comes to football. It should provide some comfort that both clubs will have similar expectations of what is needed so it is over to the authorities to respond.

People are frustrated and worrying about what will happen, that is understandable. However, it is not possible to both host a major European final and to shut down a city. It will not happen.

Information will be revealed as soon as possible once Rangers are in a position to do so, following approval by UEFA and the Spanish authorities once the details are agreed and all arrangements in place.

We want this to be a happy time, a moment to remember and if all goes to plan on the pitch, it will be unforgettable. As long as enough infrastructure is in place in and around the city, we will be on our way…
