Rangers are coming into a crucial phase of the season and thankfully, for Steven Gerrard, we are beginning to get key players back to full fitness.

With Kemar Roofe returning to the first-team and Scott Arfield not far away, they join Ryan Jack in giving the manager a welcome headache as he looks to juggle his squad and keep them all happy.

Alan Hutton, speaking to Football Insider, reckons that the timing couldn’t be better and, after being impressed with Jack’s display on his first game back against Ross County, has praised what the Scotland international brings to the Light Blues:

“I read that he’s been working hard in training and look, I think it’s brilliant to see him back.

“You can see in the half an hour that he played what he brings to the team – that drive that he’s got, the force going forward, and arguably the pick of the goals. I mean, nearly everybody touched the ball, I think, and them for him just to slot it away was a great welcome back.

“I’m sure Gerrard will be buzzing to have him back within the squad and fit and healthy because there’s some big games coming up.”

Jack has been a big miss, for example, games like the one against Motherwell where the tempo was poor in the first half could have seen a greater intensity, just having the depth to be able to rotate the midfield would’ve made a difference.

Have we missed Jack?

The quality of the squad and not just the starting XI is the key reason why we have been able to maintain such a high level of consistency, having key players return to a team already in form is ominous for the rest of the league.
