It has been claimed that Rangers youth prospect, Nathan Young-Coombes is on the verge of a move to English Championship side Brentford.

The report comes from journalist Robin Bairner.

“English Championship side Brentford are set to complete the signing of 18-year-old Rangers forward Nathan Young-Coombes.”

“The English talent began his career in Chelsea’s youth academy but made the move north to the Scottish Premiership giants in February 2019. ”

“However, after entering the final six months of his contract, Young-Coombes is now allowed to speak to other clubs and accept pre-contract agreements to join other clubs in the summer.”

“FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal that Brentford have won the race to sign the exciting, young forward and will make the deal permanent when he signs for the club before the end of the January transfer window.”

The youngster previously was said to be unsettled in Glasgow and a return back down south appears to be an attractive proposition.

At youth level, he starred for Rangers in the Alkass Cup in Qatar in 2019 and that was followed up with a winning goal in the Scottish Youth Cup final later that season.

A breakthrough into Steven Gerrard’s senior squad has not been forthcoming so this mooted departure to Brentford may be viewed as a fresh start for the player.
