Ally McCoist has dismissed speculation about his working relationship with Charles Green following various, and varied press reports.

McCoist pretty much cut straight to the chase when talking to the Official Site, although it’s fair to say many fans will wonder given the source, whether it’s a case of trying to stop the smoke turning into fire.

‘Charles knows my plans, hopes and beliefs for taking the club forward. We spoke for well over an hour, it was absolutely contructive and we both agree we must take the club forward. We’ve just had the worst 18 months in the club’s history. We’ve been battered and bruised and been beaten about. I’m involved in things. I obviously don’t have the final say, but I’d like to think my input valuable and is taken on board. That’s an important message to get out, our working relationship is absolutely fine and I felt absolutely comfortable after we spoke.’

McCoist says that Green clarified a few things involving the previous owner, and he provided him with a reassurance that he felt was needed.

In relation to specific reports suggesting that McCoist had been asked to consider sacking his coaching staff in order to save his own job, he didn’t give the matter much thought before saying.

‘I can confirm right now that I have not entered into any discussions at all with Charles regarding Kenny and Ian. All I would say is that in the last five years, along with Walter, we have won three SPL’s, numerous cups and got to a European final.’

He also ends by saying that given the reports it’s only fair he’s open to answering the questions that will follow and he assures fans he always tells the truth because he appreciates they need to know what is happening behind closed doors when it’s appropriate.
