Gers in the hunt for £7m EPL star after latest manager revelation

|

The transfer window may have shut but that doesn’t mean that Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson won’t still be looking to add to the Rangers squad for next season.

One player who has been heavily linked to a move to Ibrox is John Lundstram and the Sheffield United midfielder has yet to announce where he will be playing after he leaves the Blades.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Chris Wilder revealed that there has been no contact from any clubs despite the rumoured attention from both Rangers and West Ham United:

“No. There’s been no interest.

“I believed he will be here until the end of the season and that will be the case. Not really thought about it to be honest (keeping him in the summer).

“It’s been put to bed in terms of his situation and him getting his head down, which he is doing, and us involving him, which we are doing.

“I have not thought about that situation or that option.”

With Rangers signing Nnamdi Ofoborh, our midfield has already been strengthened, however, a lot will depend on the futures of Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Bongani Zungu as to whether or not we add further bodies.

Do we still need Lundstram after signing Ofoborh?

No

Lundstram – valued at £7.2million – is coming into his peak years and attracting a player of his quality – without a transfer fee – would be a huge coup given how well he has performed in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons.

Now that we have a few targets already in place, the path is clear to court a player that would, not only improve our squad, but our first XI.
