If Rangers are to follow up their interest in Zinedine Ferhat with a concrete offer they will need to be quick.

Reports in France claim that the 28-year old is the subject of an offer from Marseille, however, it might not be as straight forward as that.

The Nimes midfielder could be about to miss out on a dream move after it emerged that the French giants could be about to sign Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi on a loan-to buy deal, as claimed by Get French Football News.

Rangers are in the market for a midfielder with The 4th Official revealed that we have “definitely made and approach” for the Algerian international who is capable of playing either in the middle of the park or on the right-hand side of midfield.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

Valued at over £7million, Ferhat has a year left on his Nimes contract so although he would require a decent transfer fee, the risk of losing him for nothing could play into our hands, and even though his side was relegated from Ligue 1, he still earned plenty of plaudits for chipping in with six goals and 10 assists from his 33 appearances.

This is the type of player who would add immediately quality to the first-team without necessarily being able to make any money on him further down the line, but, the squad can’t just be made up of project players or free transfers, we will still need to reinvest money made from the sale of those that have impressed over the last 12 months – with Steen Gerrard hinting that a new signing could be unveiled in the coming days, Ferhat could yet be the man.
