The return of Rangers to pre-season training has seen the usual videos and images of players taking part in the now familiar gruelling regime, however, there have been a couple of noticeable absentees.

Ryan Kent is carrying a slight knock, so, given the longer time until the first competitive fixture he can be afforded time in the gym to make sure he is 100%, he is also one of the most natural athletes in the team and won’t need long to get up to full speed.

The other player who has yet to be seen on the training pitch and, is probably the most eagerly anticipated, is Fashion Sakala with many fans beginning to worry about not seeing the latest addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Thankfully, as revealed by the gaffer on Rangers TV, the Zambian international isn’t injured but instead being held up by a combination of Covid-19 protocols and passport issues, which will be equally as frustrating as he looks to integrate with his new team-mates as soon as possible.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

Sakala is a hugely exciting prospect, capable of scoring goals with both feet, direct and with pace to burn, there is a lot to like about the 24-year old and he is the perfect example of how a well oiled recruitment department can aid the club both on and off the pitch.

Getting a player who was targeted by clubs in the Premier League, Ligue 1 and La Liga is a massive coup, hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer until we get to see him in action.
