Rangers fans had some good news at the weekend, no new signings but some respite from the rumours linking our star players with moves to the Premier League.

Most of the first-team have been heading to Aston Villa according to the press but, as yet, there have been no formal bids from our former gaffer. No news is good news and all that.

Two reports gave fans even greater cause for celebration after Everton’s Lucas Digne – a left-back – and Brighton’s Yves Bissouma – a central midfielder – were said to be on their way to Villa which, if the deals come off, would take the attention away from Borna Barisic and Glen Kamara.

The pair have been instrumental under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and as established internationals are two of our most valuable players.

The sale of Nathan Patterson should mean that nobody else needs to leave this transfer window but there will be doubt up until the last minute when the window eventually “slams” shut.

From which country does Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist come from?

Since the day Steven Gerrard left, there were going to be stories written about who might follow him to the Premier League but, as we’ve seen with the signing of Philipe Coutinho, his tastes have grown considerably more expensive than the SPFL and England’s lower leagues.

With success comes attention and it’s something that we will have to get used to, at least in the days when teams could sign players whenever they wanted Rangers were the big spenders, now we have to look over our shoulders at those that might attempt to steal our prized assets although, in this case, it looks like they won’t be going anywhere….yet.
