The list of midfielders that Rangers are linked with has just had another name added to it, if a recent report on social media is to be believed.

Nicolas Raskin looks likes he is heading to France and there has been nothing since the original story broke about a considered £500,000 bid for Beni Mukendi.

Writing on Twitter, freelance reporter Olbracht Bialas has claimed that German midfielder Luca Kerber is being considered with a seven-figure fee needed to secure the services of the 20-year old.

Writing for Lausitzer Rundschau, Bialas claims that Ligue 1 outfit Lorient and Brighton are also keeping tabs on the youngster who is currently playing for Saarbruken in the third tier of German football.

On paper, it might not seem like a rumour to get excited about, however, Brighton are well known for their scouting policy and ability to discover gems, as with our interest in Mukendi where not much is known or can be found out about the player, who else is in for him is as good an indication as any that we could be onto something.

It is, to a degree, encouraging that we seem to be getting linked with players from further afield and in markets that we haven’t shopped in before. If we are to have a truly successful player trading model then we have to widen our horizons and sign these players before they make their “big” move.

Not all of them will be a success but, if the scouting and recruitment do their job properly, there are players out there waiting to be discovered and who are potentially the next big thing.
