Club 1872 launched it’s “Never Again” project on Tuesday in the hope of raising the £13million required to become the major shareholder of Rangers and initial figures suggest that it may be achievable before the three year target.

The fans group revealed that after less than 24 hours there has already been 1000 fans take up the legacy membership option of providing at least £500 towards the fund after Dave King announced that he would be selling his shares exclusively to Club 1872.

The scheme could see Rangers fans have a genuine voice and controlling interest in the club which means that there will “never again” be a chain of events that led to the disastrous consequences of 2012.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

A news release from Club 1872 confirmed the figure, which is a positive step in the right direction towards the possibility of fan ownership:

“We are delighted to bring you the news that on day one of our Legacy Campaign, we welcomed over 1000 legacy members who each committed to helping to fund our purchase of Dave King’s entire shareholding in RIFC. This is an incredible response from the Rangers support and we extend our thanks to our new members and to those existing members who’ve switched to legacy donations in the past 24 hours.”

There is, understandably, a few questions that still need to be asked about the project and hopefully these will be answered in the coming days so that any fans that have doubts about putting their money into the scheme can do so worry free.
