Rangers may have missed out on the Champions League but this didn’t stop the club from adding two new faces over the last few days.

Juninho Bacuna and Juan Alegria have been picked up which both players having slightly different levels of expectation, the latter more likely to be seen in the B team in the short-term whilst the former should be able to make an immediate impact in the first-team.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Ger, Alan Hutton, believes that Rangers will always be looking to strengthen and that budget adjustments won’t affect recruitment:

“I think they’ll always have a target.

“I don’t think because they’re not in the Champions League anymore that they will stop looking.

“They are always going to be active. The point is that the targets will probably have changed.

“You look at the likes of Joey Veerman for upwards of £7m. Would they be able to afford that now?

“I think they might have to look at cheaper alternatives. But they will always look to strengthen.

“That’s something they need to do to progress, you need to look forward.

“Celtic are still trying to bring bodies in and I’m sure Rangers will be the exact same.

“It’s just the financial side of things that’s changed and they’ll have to have a more strict budget to get players in.”

Hutton is right, Ross Wilson will have several different options for each position for every eventuality, including if he receives acceptable offers for any of our own players and we have to identify replacements.

Who scored Rangers first ever goal under Steven Gerrard in EL qualification?

Nothing will be left to the last minute, there will be no panic buys, and the fact that Bacuna told us that we had tried to sign him last season shows how diligently the recruitment team is working.

Despite what some fans may think, Rangers haven’t been resting on any laurels, sometimes you just have to be patient to get the right player at the right price, especially when every penny is a prisoner.
