Rangers have managed to win a few decent transfer battles over the last couple of years with the signings of Joe Aribo and Fashion Sakala the most notable.

The club is in an even better position to negotiate now knowing that Champions League football is tantalisingly close and we finally have the Scottish Premiership trophy back where it belongs.

Football finance expert, Kieran Maguire reckons that it is a great time for Rangers to compete in the transfer market, especially against English sides, as reported by Football Insider:

“Rangers have two things to offer that EFL clubs can’t.

“The first is that they are playing in front of 47,000 people every week.

“They’ve also got the chance to play in the group stages of the Champions League. That gives players a financial incentive.

“It also the opportunity to play at the highest level in an individual country and also in Europe’s premier competition.

“That will certainly give them an edge. They can now compete financially with the biggest clubs in the Championship.

“I think clubs in the Championship have suffered disproportionately due to the pandemic because of the nature of the business model.

“So now is the right time to buy if you’re Rangers because you imagine they’d have quite a big advantage.”

Maguire is right, it is now a no-brainer if a player is given the opportunity to sign for us, especially if the choice is between Rangers and a team in the Championship.

Our finances are in a better condition and on the pitch we are a force to be reckoned with once again with an ever improving continental reputation – it’s not just a great time to sign for Rangers, it’s a great time for everyone connected to the club and if ever a group of supporters deserved it, it’s us.
