Antonio Colak has been one of Rangers best bits of transfer business in recent windows, Tom Lawrence, Ben Davies and Ridvan Yilmaz might also go on to be key players, however, they haven’t quite hit the ground running in the same way that the big Croatian has.

With 11 goals in 12 league games, he has more than made up for both Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos spending time in the treatment room to the extent that the Colombian is no longer considered first choice for even the biggest of games.

Colak has already shown that he can adapt his game and is now more involved in the build up play and in linking with teammates, one of the reasons that he has won the SPFL’s player of the month for October.

On being given the award, Colak was asked about strike rival Morelos and whether or not he hopes that he puts pen to paper on a new contract, as reported by The Rangers Review:

“What he showed in the past, he’s scored so many goals to achieve big things and to have players like this in the squad is always important.

“We need to be competitive, we need a lot of strikers and a lot of players in every position. You see now with the team and how many injured players we have and this means a lot to be competitive in the Champions League and in the league and the cup. We want to play at the highest level and this means you need players like Alfredo.

“It will be important for a team like Rangers to keep a player like that but I cannot decide that. For me as a striker, of course, in every position, you need competitive players.”

Morelos should have scored against Ajax to make it 2-1, he also missed a sitter against Napoli. He might not have found his shooting boots yet but, as we saw against Aberdeen, he is still capable of finding space and getting on the end of chances. He’s hardly played and could easily have scored four or five goals in his last few appearances.

Rangers have always had depth in attack and it’s just a shame that Roofe doesn’t look like he is going to be able to contribute as often as we would like, having to replace two top quality strikers is not going to be easy and, hopefully, we wont have to, although, having Colak in such blistering form makes the job that little bit easier.
