Borna Barisic was unlucky to miss out against England at the weekend, injury preventing him from playing against a team full of potential future team-mates, if reports are to be believed.

Leeds United have been linked with the Croatian international on more than a few occasions and former Elland Road full-back, Danny Mills, believes that the £10million rated defender would be a great fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, as told to Football Insider:

“The left-back position needs to be sorted, we know that.

“They need to bring in a specialist in that area.

“Croatia are a good side and he’s obviously had a good season at Rangers. To be in the Croatia squad, you’re obviously of high quality.

“It could be a fantastic opportunity but it’s better to get it done sooner rather than later. Let’s say he goes on to have a really good tournament, they’ll be one or two others queuing up to try and get his signature.”

It’s amazing how far Rangers have come in the last few years, nobody would have foreseen us having a regular starting in one of the world’s finest teams when we had the likes of Lee Hodson and Declan John kicking about and with representatives in the Copa America and African Nations Cup, we are truly back on the world stage.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

Barisic is a saleable asset, the fact that he was named in the Europa League team of the season amplifying how good a year he has had for Rangers, it also makes him a target for those that could see him as a cheap option.

Times have changed though, if Leeds want Croatia’s left-back, they will need to pay the going price, something that Ross Wilson will be more than happy to explain to anyone who picks up the phone and asks “how much?”.
