Speculation from agents should always be taken with a pinch of salt, however, it would appear that – in this case – Rangers have little chance of securing the signatures of Thomas Henry, if we are in fact interested in the first place that is.

The 26-year old forward has enjoyed a prolific two years in the Belgian top flight with reports claiming that both sides of the Old Firm are keeping an eye on the situation, however, his UK agent, Paul Tait, has revealed the scale of the task facing the Scottish giants given that half of Europe appears to be interested in his client, as told to Football Insider:

“There are a number of clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Thomas before the transfer window closes.

“My business partner Dusan has received offers from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the UK for Thomas, and he will consider all his options before making a decision on his future.”

Some of the Scottish press have already jumped the gun, going as far as to claim that Celtic have made an offer for the 6ft 4inch striker who has scored 45 goals in 78 OH Leuven appearances, without any hint of a source or reference to back it up, that they claim their interest is based on Odsonne Edouard leaving also doesn’t help their cause because he is still there – no way are Celtic paying £7million for a striker whilst he is still on the books – as well as Leigh Griffiths, they currently have £20m worth of strikers in their squad.

Will we spend any money this transfer window?

No

No

As for Rangers interest, if a bid has come from the UK, it won’t have come from us, before spending anywhere near that figure we will need to sell, not just to free up cash but because that is how our transfer model works plus we already have five strikers of our own.

He’s an interesting player and one that could do well for Rangers but at his age, there is limited sell-on value, and with clubs all over then continent’s top five leagues looking at him, I don’t think he’ll be lining up in Light Blue anytime soon, well, not at Ibrox anyway.
