Gerrard work branded “phenomenal” as Gers boss receives glowing praise

|

Rangers came out the other side of the transfer window smelling of roses, deadwood off the wage bill, and fresh exciting talented secured for both this and next season.

Steven Gerrard has been praised for his work – alongside Ross Wilson – with Kevin Phillips, speaking to Football Insider, being particularly impressed with his former England team-mate’s work:

“Stevie has used his contacts in England.

“He is planning for the future. He is not resting on his laurels and just trying to see this season out – it is refreshing. What Steven has done there is phenomenal.

“I would not be surprised if all three hit the ground running because it is easier to come into a team that is flying. Competition is going to be really strong.”

With money being tight, getting three players in who will improve the squad without any upfront financial outlay has been a great bit of business and for all that we didn’t need anyone in right away, seeing Scott Wright and Jack Simpson arrive will give the squad a boost and freshen it up.

It will also serve as a reminder to under performing players – or those that show lapses in discipline – that Gerrard will not tolerate second best or mediocrity, he may not plan on being here forever, but what he is doing is putting in place a series of plans that will enable our club to go from strength-to-strength, long after his inevitable return to Liverpool.
