Fit, well, ready and available – that was the message from Steven Gerrard in regard to the latest Ibrox arrivals, Scott Wright and Jack Simpson.

Gerrard was asked about how the new boys have setttled in and if fans should expect to see them in action on Sunday against Hamilton.

At the press conference earlier today, the boss was upbeat on their prospects of featuring.

He said, “Possibly – Jack has trained with the team for the first time today. We’ll have to be a little bit more patient with him because of the difference in terms of the Covid testing.”

“Scott’s covid test from Aberdeen covered him to join in with us a little bit quicker. He has had one or two more sessions with us now, so he’s a bit further ahead.”

“Quite possibly we could see both at the weekend – I haven’t picked my squad yet.”

Gerrard continued, “We have prepared for Hamilton in the last couple of days and we have another session tomorrow but both players are fit, well, ready and available which is a real positive for me.”

Given the ongoing suspension issues with Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe, Gerrard will be especially keen to give Scott Wright exposure in a Rangers shirt to familiarise him with his team-mates on the pitch, to provide another attacking option.

The 23-year old featured six times for Aberdeen in January so match fitness is not an issue.

With not needing to settle into the league or the football environment that foreign players have to face, the possibility of Wright making an immediate impact is a very attractive one.

VitalRangers expects the former Scotland U21 international to feature at Hamilton.
