It’s safe to say it’s been a different transfer window for Rangers fans.

We haven’t needed anyone or been desperate for something special to happen in the hopes that a title challenge could be sustained beyond Boxing Day.

Last year we saw Ianis Hagi and Florian Kamberi arrive, this season has been all about planning for the future and getting pre-contract agreements signed up without any significant losses.

Steven Gerrard emphasised that none of his key players were going anywhere but the market has been that quiet that he probably didn’t need to say anything, only those who aren’t making match day squads have been allowed to leave.

The departure of Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker and George Edmundson has been a great bit of business by the club, three players who all need games, have lost the manager’s trust in one way or another and have seen upgrades already signed for next season, getting them in the shop window could end up with us getting decent fees for players deemed surplus to requirements.

There is a tranquility surrounding Ibrox just now, no panic buys, no desperation to sell assets, just going about our work in a professional and considered manner, something we have longed for for years. The arrivals of Scott Wright and Jack Simpson strengthen us now with Nnambi Ofoborh joining in the summer to add to our midfield depth, all without breaking the bank.

The next step has to be extensions for Connor Goldson and James Tavernier who both have 18-months left on their deals, Steven Davis and Allan McGregor have earned the right to take as long as they need to make their decisions, whether that is going out in a blaze of glory or continuing to defy their advancing years we’ll need to wait and see.

Leon Balogun should be retained and although he is still under contract until 2023, reflecting Glen Kamara’s true worth before the European Championships could go a long way in getting a bigger fee when the inevitable bids come in.

In Ross Wilson we trust.
