Steven Gerrard has overseen a gradual change in mindset since taking over as Rangers manager, and although silverware has, as yet, been elusive, nobody can question the path that his team is on.

The Gers gaffer has always been strong on recruiting players with the right mentality and touched on the process that has led to an unbeaten start to the season, as reported by Glasgow Live.

When asked about the consistency of his side and what is required to be successful in the famous Light Blue shirt, he said:

“There are players who have been on the full journey that are really comfortable with what’s expected of them.

“Some people haven’t been able to cope with that and we’ve had to move them in different directions. We’ve tried to recruit people, as best we can, that we know can cope and can deal with it.

“I think adding better players to it as we’ve gone along has certainly helped us get to where we are today.

“We’ve still got more to do to get to where we want to. We’ve tried to set that culture since day one. We haven’t changed it since we went along.

“We have set standards in terms of what we expect training to look like, in terms of the intensity.

“I think players react at different times to what you want.”

The players have shown on occasion this season that there is a growing belief at the club, qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League, recovering against Standard Liege, the dismantling of Celtic at Parkhead and qualifying for the knockout stages with a game to spare are highlights of a successful start to the campaign.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

There is an obvious goal yet to be achieved and with the league cup no longer featuring Celtic amongst it’s teams, Gerrard’s men are heavy favourites to break their ten year trophy duck – like London buses, when one comes, few would back against more following soon after.
